When I try to transfer an eBook to my NOOK, I see the "This book has been returned. Loan not on record" error. What does this mean?

This appears to be a problem with older NOOKs and version 4 of Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). Please try these steps:
- Uninstall ADE version 4 and install ADE version 3
- Deauthorize ADE, delete (but don't return) the eBook from your ADE Library
- Authorize ADE and either download the eBook again or open it from the file you previously downloaded
- Copy the eBook to your NOOK
