What is Libby?

Libby is a free app that lets you enjoy eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines from your public library. You can stream titles with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use and read anytime, anywhere.

You can check out up to 10 eBooks or eAudiobooks at a time, and there is no limit for digital magazine checkouts. To get started:

Libby Website

  1. Visit libbyapp.com/library/metrolibrary and click Sign In With My Card. Enter your full library card number and click Next.
  2. Enter your full last name (capitalization doesn't matter). Click Next.
  3. Kindle users: If you want to send titles from Libby to your Kindle device or Kindle app, click Yes, I read with Kindle. Otherwise, click Next.

To search by title, author, or keyword, click the magnifying glass icon  at the bottom of your screen.

To browse available titles, click the library icon  at the bottom of your screen. Click the menu icon   to narrow your search by genre, format, and more!

To check out items, click Borrow. To place holds on items, click Place Hold.

Optional: To change your eBook/eAudiobook lending period from 7 days to 14 days, click on the number of days just above the Borrow button.


Libby App

  1. On your smartphone or tablet, search for "libby" in your App Store (iOS or Amazon devices) or Play Store (Android devices). Download and install the Libby by Overdrive app.
  2. Libby’s first screen will ask if you have a library card. Tap Yes. Tap Search for a Library.
  3. Start typing "metropolitan" in the Find Your Library box. Choose Metropolitan Library System (OK). Tap Next.
  4. Enter your full library card number and full last name (capitalization doesn’t matter). Tap Next.
  5. Kindle users: If you want to send titles from Libby to your Kindle device or Kindle app, tap Yes, I read with Kindle. Otherwise, tap Next.

To search by title, author, or keyword, tap the magnifying glass icon  at the bottom of your screen.
