EBSCO eBooks is a collection of nonfiction books on topics such as anthropology, geography, history, language and literature, education, philosophy, psychology, religion, science and medicine, social sciences, and technology. This collection also includes educational and news videos, and some children’s nonfiction. Most titles can be downloaded for up to 21 days.
Read EBSCO eBooks in your browser:
- Visit metrolibrary.org/ebscoebooks
Sign in with your full card number and full last name. Bookmark this page so you can easily return to it. - Browse or search the collection
Search the collection by title, subject, author, or keyword. You can limit your search by publication date, Lexile level, and more. - Read the title
Click Access Now (eBook) or Access Options to read the title in your browser.
Tip: If you create a My EBSCOhost account, you can add eBooks to your folder to save and read in future browsing sessions, or download eBooks for offline reading.

To read books in EPUB format, Adobe Digital Editions must be installed on your device. Adobe Digital Editions is a free app.
First, install Adobe Digital Editions (for EPUB format).
- On a desktop or laptop computer: go to Adobe's website and install Adobe Digital Editions. On a mobile device: download Adobe Digital Editions from your app store.
Next, download the title.
- Using your browser, visit metrolibrary.org/ebscoebooks to find the book you want to download.
- Click Full eBook download. Choose PDF format to read on a laptop or desktop computer. Choose EPUB format to read on a mobile device or a laptop/desktop computer.
- Sign in with your My EBSCOhost account. If you don’t have one, tap Create a new account.
Finally, open your eBook with Adobe Digital Editions!
- Open the Adobe Digital Editions app and authorize it with an Adobe ID by clicking the menu button on the top left. Select Settings and then Authorize.
- If you don’t have one, click Create a free Adobe ID. If you’ve already created one but forgotten it, click Forgot password?
- Click the three lines in the top left corner. Choose Library. If you don’t see the title you just downloaded, click the three lines again, then choose Refresh. Click or tap the cover of the book to open it.
EPUB features in Adobe Digital Editions
A single click or tap in the middle of the screen displays a menu of options allowing you to go to your Library of titles, access the Table of Contents, access your Bookmarks, Search the eBook, and change Settings like text size, show page number, and brightness.
If you tap and hold on a word, it will become highlighted and you’ll be able to drag markers to extend the highlight over a single word or a passage. Choosing Highlight will highlight the selected text, and choosing Note will allow you to save the selected text. All highlights and notes can be accessed in the Bookmarks menu.
