If you'd like your OverDrive holds to be automatically borrowed (but not automatically downloaded) for you when it becomes available, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit emedia.metrolibrary.org.
  2. Click the 3 books icon at the top and then enter all 8 digits of your library card number (if your card number has less than 8 digits, add enough zeros to the front of your number until it is 8 digits long) or if your card number starts with ecard, enter that word along with the 7 trailing digits and your full last name, and click Sign In.
  3. Click on Settings and then check the circle next to Automatic hold checkout.

You will receive an email each time a hold is automatically borrowed for you. You will find these borrowed titles in the Loans section of your OverDrive account.

Note: If you've borrowed 10 titles (the maximum number of OverDrive titles allowed by Metro) and one of your holds becomes available, you'll receive an email letting you know that automatic checkout could not be completed for that hold. In that case, you'll need to return a title or wait for one of your borrowed titles to expire, then manually check out your hold.
